Security, regional corporation tops South-South governors meeting in Asaba

MON, SEPTEMBER 11 2017-theG&BJournal-Regional economic corporation and security matters were top of the agenda when governors of the South-South met in Asaba, Delta State capital today.

Governor Udom of Akwa Ibom State told reporters after the meeting that they came to Delta State principally to discuss economic issues as it affects the region, on behalf of their colleagues in the South-South states.

“We met to see how we can revive the BRACED Commission and boost security in the region,” he said.

The Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa,  Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Akwa Ibom States, governor, Emmanuel Udom were the governors present at the meeting in which they resolved to work for the interest of the nation and to boost economic activities in the South South region. They as well stressed that it is important that the area is peaceful for economic growth.

“There is the need for us to ensure that the area is safe, with the increase in the quantum of oil production, there is need to boost security in the region, in the interest of our region and the country,” Udom said after the meeting.
