LCCI holds power sector policy dialogue

MON, SEPTEMBER 25 2017-theG&BJournal-The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the Premier Chamber of Commerce and one of the leading voices in the organised private sector (OPS) in Nigeria, is set to hold a policy dialogue on the Power Sector of the Nigerian economy. This is aimed at examining and proffering solutions to issues that are of great concerns to government, operators and consumers in the sector.

The dialogue session, according to LCCI, is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 28thSeptember, 2017 at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos at 9:30am.

Muda Yusuf, Director General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said: “This is part of our public-sector engagement programs for the advancement and growth of the Nigerian economy. The Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN will be attending this dialogue session as the Special Guest of Honour. It would be a platform for the Honourable Minister to intimate Nigerians about the on-going projects and efforts of Government at solving the energy/power debacle plaguing the sector and the nation at large.”

Yusuf further stressed that, “this dialogue will enable various stakeholders to deliberate on key aspects ofthe privatization of the Power Sector, the role of the Distribution Companies (Discos), Generation Companies (Gencos), Government and all categories of consumers in achieving a successful reform in the sector,among other issues prevalent in the sector.”

Yusuf also emphasized that seasoned professionals and notable experts in the Power Sector will be available to engage the Honourable Minister. While the President of the LCCI, Dr. Mrs. Nike Akande, CON would chair the event.
