INEC releases timetable for Melaye’s recall


TUE, JULY 4 2017-The Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday released the timetable for the recall of Senator Dino Melaye.  The recall process will commence on July 10 with a notice of verification at the INEC office in Lokoja, Kogi State.

According to the INEC timetable, July 31 will be the last day of submission of application for interested observers and August 10 will be the last day for submission of verification agents of member sought to be recalled and petitioners.

In addition, a stakeholders meeting will be held on August 15 and the verification will be held on August 19.

The recall exercise of Senator Dino Melaye was initiated and is being pursued by constituent of Kogi West senatorial District members.

The Independent National Electoral Commission received signatures from the electorates in Kogi West Senatorial District, late June asking for the recall of Senator Dino Melaye from the Senate.

Six bags, which contained the signatures of 52.3 percent of the electorates from the zone and other petitions, were submitted to the Commission in Abuja.

Melaye is representing Kogi West Senatorial District.
