MON, JANUARY 30 2017-The reunion has been billed as a landmark event with all class members admitted into the school in September 1973 expected to gather to share their experiences since their graduation in 1978.
The event which holds on Saturday, February 4th 2017 at the premises of the Old Boys’ secretariat in Yaba, Lagos, will have prominent old school boys present including Alfred Okoigun, Managing Director of Arco Petrochemical Group as special guest of honour. Mr John Onwah, the President of the Abuja branch of Government College Ughelli (GCU) Old Boys Association is billed as the special guest speaker.
The event culminates with a special Thanksgiving Service to be hosted by a class member, Bishop Kwapovwe Chris of the Manna Prayer Mountain Ministry International (Our Daily Manna) Ogudu Orioke, Lagos on Sunday, February 5th 2017, 8 am.
Lagos was unanimously chosen last December as the city for the maiden reunion after a member of the class, Mr Tsola Vincent, a management consultant and Chairman of the re-union organising committee, initiated the coming together of members of the class for the first time in over 30 years. Subsequent reunion gathering will be hosted by cities around the globe where the members have good numbers in residence, according to members of the class.
Class members from the United State, Europe and Asia have already signalled their intention to attend the event which will be live-streamed.
According to Mr Vincent, “we hope to use this opportunity to set in motion ideas and plans for positive give-back programmes to the school.” He urged all class members to ensure they attend the event because of its historic relevance.
Meanwhile, a special fund is already being set up by the class members that will focus on giving back, infrastructure development and improvement in the school which was founded in 1945.
